How to check backlinks - there are two ways to check backlinks, one in google and one in yahoo. Checking in google is the most valuable results because it filters out bad backlinks that google doesn't like. To check backlinks in google go to www.google.com then in google search box type in link: and then type the website url next to it. Example: link:www.gametrailers.com which have displayed about 5,080 websites results linking to it. Yahoo is more laid back and displays almost all the backlinks regardless of their quality and ranking. To check backlinks on yahoo, go to www.yahoo.com then in search box type in link: then next to it type in web site url just like we did in google, we'll use same example which is link:www.gametrailers.com which have displayed about 2,893,588 websites results linking to it.
(Tip: Look through the backlinks in google results and click on those web sites to see that you like, those can be either forum web sites, or directorys, articles, or other, then create an account with them and post a comment with a link to your web site, more you do that, higher you rank.)
